Blacksmith Lofts originated in the late 1800's as an industrial factory manufacturing forges for blacksmith shops and heating boilers for residential homes. The building was owned by W.W. and S.R. Sheldon, who in 1896, collaboratively founded Sheldon's; a manufacturer of air handling equipment. Blacksmith Lofts will be developed with great emphasis on the preservation of original elements and features of the building to give due prominence to the historical relevance of this landmark building in Galt's core.
